Review
Anyone who has ever used a professional audio recording/editing program (like SoundForge or Cakewalk products) may quickly catalog Audio Edit as "some kind of a reduced/simplified version" of such software. And they will be very close to the truth. Audio Edit is a simple program that combines ease of use in recording, editing and processing audio signals, with some cutting-edge functions hard to find in such products, like "direct" MP3 audio editing/saving support.
Of course there are a few disadvantages to point out. First of all, some parts of the program's GUI don't look very modern (just look at the installer!), but that's just an aesthetic perception. What I missed was the ability to change the zoom level when playing the file, it's just not possible (first pause it). On the other hand, you will find some crazy features such as "customize the GUI colors"...honestly I never saw something like this before (in tools of such kind). The more important thing is that it's not free, but compared to other commercial products there are less nag screens and blocked features, thus providing a good experience to the final user. |
